Making a Wiki

This page is all about how to start, manage and maintain a Wiki for your class

What is a Wiki?

In Hawai'ian "wiki" means "fast" and it is the easiest way to collab with students and teachers without the use of paper. And we all know how important it is to conserve trees.

Why use a Wiki?

Wouldn't it be easy to:

  • have your students send you their work without sorting through emails?
  • share with parent: your weekly newsletter, their children's work, comments and suggestions?
  • have lessons and units where students can post and collaborate in the class and at home?
  • (insert your own question here)?

Wiki's gives you an Internet based classroom. This is not a replacement of TeacherWeb, rather, a compliment to it. By using different Internet venues you give students a variety of resources and you increase your understanding of Web 2.0.
